How to Use the Currency Converter

Enter the amount you want to convert, choose the currency you're converting from, and choose the currency you're converting to. The calculator instantly shows the converted amount along with the current exchange rate and its inverse, so you can see the relationship in both directions.

About Exchange Rates

Exchange rates fluctuate constantly based on supply and demand in the global currency markets, interest rate differentials between countries, inflation, and broader economic conditions. The rates used here are indicative mid-market rates intended for quick estimates and everyday planning rather than for executing trades or large transfers.

Tips for International Money Transfers

Banks and money transfer services typically add a margin on top of the mid-market rate, so the rate you're quoted when actually sending money is usually less favourable than the reference rate shown by a converter. For larger transfers, it's worth comparing the total cost (rate margin plus fees) across a few providers rather than assuming the advertised rate is what you'll receive.

Are these exchange rates updated in real time?

The rates are indicative reference rates intended for everyday estimates and planning. For time-sensitive transactions or large transfers, always confirm the live rate with your bank or transfer provider before proceeding.

Why is the rate I get from my bank different from this calculator?

Banks and currency exchange services add their own margin on top of the mid-market rate shown here, and may also charge a flat fee. This is how they generate revenue on currency exchange, so the rate you're offered will typically be slightly less favourable than the reference rate.

What is the difference between the exchange rate and the inverse rate?

The exchange rate tells you how much of the "to" currency you get for one unit of the "from" currency. The inverse rate is simply 1 divided by that rate, telling you how much of the "from" currency one unit of the "to" currency is worth.
